This year we are focusing on the word ‘your’; encouraging our staff and our cultural partners to visit LJMU Special Collections and Archives, giving them the opportunity to explore your archive, your resource.
We are holding tours for staff and partners to learn more about our collections and the work we do supporting teaching and learning, along with our programme of outreach and engagement. Hopefully, these tours will generate ideas for future collaboration and partnership working.
LJMU Special Collections and Archives hold unique and distinctive primary sources which are used by students to inspire their academic work, by researchers making new discoveries and by all interested members of the public who would like to learn more.
Our specialism in post war popular culture covers the following categories: Arts, Photography and Fashion (Liddell Hart, Femorabilia); Liverpool Theatre and Writing (Everyman Theatre, Liverpool’s Royal Court, Unity Theatre and Willy Russell Archives); Popular Music and Counter Culture (England’s Dreaming: The Jon Savage Archive, Situationist International: The John McCready Archive and the Barry Miles archives); LJMU History and Special Collections (Stafford Beer).
These Explore Your Archive tours are going to showcase our growing Femorabilia collection of girl’s comics and women’s magazines, programmes from local theatres, tickets and flyers from Eric’s club, photographs and fanzines from the punk era, clothing and uniform from our founding colleges and artefacts from the Stafford Beer collection.
Tours will be available during Wed 23, Thu 24 and Fri 25 at 11am for 1 hour.
Book a place on one of our tours through Eventbrite
If a group of colleagues would like to arrange a personalised tour please contact the Archivist archives@ljmu.ac.uk or 0151 231 3241
