Preparations are now well underway for Light Night this Friday. Not only do we have our LJMU Over Time exhibition open to visit, we will have additional LJMU History Archive material out on display for one night only in the Special Collections & Archives Reading Room, accompanied by a selection of music on retro formats from our resident DJ for the night.

We will also be running archive tours throughout the evening – at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm – to allow visitors to get a behind the scenes look at our collections, and see material never before exhibited. From popular music and counter culture (e.g. England’s Dreaming: The Jon Savage Archive, Situationist Collection, and Barry Miles Archives) and Liverpool theatre and writing (The Everyman Theatre, Royal Court Theatre, Unity Theatre and Willy Russell Archives) to the history of fashion (Liddell Hart Collection), girl’s comics (Femorabilia) and the history of LJMU, there is bound to be something that will pique your interest.

A host of other exciting activities will be happening within Aldham Robarts Library on the ground floor, see our poster below for more details.

In addition we will be hosting an ‘Instant Exhibition’, where alumni of LJMU or its founding colleges can exhibit their archive material for one night only, write an exhibition label for it, record an interview and have the item professionally photographed.

See our webpages for further details of other activities being run by LJMU for Light Night, and the Light Night website for activities across the city.
