On Saturday 8th October, I was invited to attend the reunion of the IM Marsh College Association of Past Students’ Annual Reunion, displaying a selection of items from the IM Marsh Archive. The event was well attended, and it was lovely to speak to the past students about their time at the college.

The key reason for attendance from LJMU Special Collections & Archives was to accept a Great Britain Hockey Cap on behalf of Maureen Short, former teacher at IM Marsh, who died in 2004. The cap is part of a project run by the Hockey Museum recognising former GB players, and was presented by Sheila Morrow, GB Hockey President, and former IM March student. It was a great honour to accept the cap, which will now become part of the IM Marsh Archive at LJMU.

Dorothy Maureen Short was born in Liverpool in 1934, and attended Holly Lodge School. After training at Nonington College of Physical Education, and teaching at two high schools, she was appointed to teach at IM Marsh College of Physical Education by Marie Crabbe in 1961. Maureen Short played hockey for Great Britain from 1965-1969. In the IM Marsh Archive we hold a hockey stick engraved to Maureen Short, her GB Hockey Blazers and her photograph album from her time at IM Marsh.
