On Saturday 14th September LJMU Special Collections & Archives opened its doors for a special Heritage Open Day event surrounding our EVER FORWARD: Everyone Starts Somewhere exhibition for the 60th birthday of Liverpool Everyman Theatre.

Two sessions ran from 11:00-12:00 and 14:00-15:00 on the 14th of September. This event has now passed but free bookings took place via our Eventbrite listing.

The event featured a play reading by LJMU Drama students and alumni of Only Here on a Message by Alan Bleasdale from the collaboratively-written Infirmary Tales performed at the Everyman Theatre for Christmas 1982 with an introductory talk from Dr Ros Merkin, author of Liverpool’s Third Cathedral: The Everyman Theatre in the Words of Those Who Were, and Are, There (which you can win a copy of by completing our exhibition feedback survey!)

Alongside this, we showcased panels and material from our previous Celebrating Alan Dossor exhibition, gave away button badges featuring Everyman archive posters and photographs, and opened up our Reading Room to provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at material not featured in the main exhibition.
