LJMU Library’s latest exhibition celebrates children’s stories and illustration.

On display are items relating to the Carnegie Awards for Writing and Illustration which have been chosen from our Children’s Literacy Development Collection and our Special Collections and Archives.

The exhibition is part of LJMU Library’s annual Library Fest and is on show at Aldham Robarts Library between 10 February – 24 April 2025.

As well as items on display, there are copies of books available to browse.

We asked members of CILIP Youth Libraries Group to pick their favourite Carnegie award-winning titles and these books are on display with labels explaining their choices. Extra copies of the books are also available on library trolleys so that visitors can browse through them.

The Carnegie Medals were established in 1937 and are the oldest children’s book awards in the UK. CILIP’s Youth Libraries Group members promote excellence in children and young people’s literature by organising, judging and publicising the annual Carnegie Medals.
